The Gospel
of Grace

"For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth." — Romans 1:16

The most important question you will ever face is your standing before God. This presentation walks through the gospel of the grace of God — exactly as the apostle Paul received and preached it — so you can know with certainty where you stand.

Understanding Check

The Gospel of Grace

Do you believe this?

You have read that all have sinned, that the wages of sin is death, that Christ died for our sins, was buried, and rose again the third day, and that God freely justifies the ungodly who believes. Here is what the gospel requires you to trust:

"I believe that Jesus Christ, God manifest in the flesh, died for my sins according to the scriptures, was buried, and rose again the third day according to the scriptures. I trust in his finished work — not in anything I have done or can do — as the complete payment for my sins before God."
1 Corinthians 15:3-4
"Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures."
Ephesians 2:8-9
"For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast."

This is not a prayer. It is not a ceremony. It is faith — trusting that what Christ did is true and sufficient.

Take Your Time

That is an honest answer.

Faith is not a feeling of certainty — it is simply taking God at his word. Consider these three questions:

Do you understand that you have sinned?
Romans 3:23 — all have sinned. Every person falls short of God's perfect standard. There are no exceptions.
Do you understand that Christ died for your sins?
Romans 5:8 — while we were yet sinners. His death was for you specifically. The penalty has already been paid.
Do you understand that salvation is a free gift?
Ephesians 2:8-9 — not of works. There is nothing to add to what Christ has done. Believing it is all that God requires.

There is no pressure. Read it again as many times as you need.

Saved
You are
saved.
Romans 8:1
"There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit."

If you truly believe that Christ died for your sins, was buried, and rose again — and you are trusting in his finished work alone — then by the authority of God's own word, you are saved. Justified. Declared righteous before God. Forever.

Your Assurance in Christ

What is now true of you

You may not feel different.

Salvation is not an emotion. Many people believe the gospel and feel nothing change in that moment. This does not mean nothing happened. Salvation is a legal declaration before God — not a feeling. You are sealed.

Ephesians 1:13
"In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise."
Your salvation does not depend on your performance.

You were not saved by your works and you are not kept saved by your works. God began this and God keeps it. Your failures and doubts cannot undo what God has declared.

Philippians 1:6
"Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ."
Nothing can separate you from God's love.

This is not your hold on God — it is his hold on you. Nothing in this list, and nothing outside it, can break what God has established in Christ.

Romans 8:38-39
"For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord."
What now?

Read Paul's epistles — Romans through Philemon — in your King James Bible. These letters are God's direct instruction for members of the Body of Christ today. Begin with Romans. Read it slowly.

2 Timothy 2:15
"Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth."
